Sekarang kalo bangun tidur rasanya susahhhh banget. Pertama, dingin. Kedua, hari lebih pendek sekarang, jadi bangun tidur masih gelap. Awal2 masuk sekolah, sinar matahari ngebantu banget buat bangun.

Anyway, jam pertama di sekolah itu US History which is...

Jaman2 sibuknya Alteration, diklat, sampe pas jadi detektif kodok wokwokwok suka banget bacain buku kecil. Baca itu bikin senyum2 sendiri terus mikir 'yaampun konyol banget'. Pingin baca buku kecil yang lain jadinya-_- pingin baca pas jaman kelas 10 wkwk pasti seru.

Baca buku kecil bikin gue keluarin diary sma.

Baca diary sma bikin gue refleksi diri. Waktu jaman mimpi ini masih mimpi. Waktu jaman Amerika itu masih jauuuuh banget. Tertulis apa harapan2 dan impian2 gue dan 'apa yang akan gue lakukan'. Jadi refleksi diri sendiri.

Ditambah gue suka liat tulisan tangan gue. Abis rapih sih wkwkwkw. Walaupun ngga serapih Radifan.

Yaudah, dadahhh.

ThreeSixty

Last week, when I was having bonfire with the family in the backyard, I googled for journalism workshop in Minneapolis. I was surprised when I found this workshop, held by a teen newspaper and magazine called ThreeSixty. The web of ThreeSixty looks professional and exciting. I was SO EXCITED about it. BUT, the last time to sign up was September 20 and I found it on October. I thought, I didn't do anything on September! Why could I miss such an opportunity??!! What have I been doing????!

I was disappointed. I tried to call the contact person but he didn't answer. I thought I could do it in spring, because they do it both in fall and spring. The only problem is that I planned many things to do in spring. I don't know if they were gonna happen or not, but I already planned things and I don't want to make it on spring. But I want to do it badly, so I just let it go and let's see what the spring has for me. I was still applying my form, though. Although I knew it was too late. I was gambling. In the form, we had to send then 2 docs of our writings. I sent them my bahasa Indonesia essay. Yes, one of the essay is in bahasa. I was thinking, I won't get the workshop either, why bother?

It was yesterday, a week after I found out about the workshop in the internet. I got an email from the contact person that he found my form and because the class still has seats available, he said I could join them!!!!! I was sooooooooo happy!!!!!!!!!!!

So today was my first day of workshop. It was soooooo fun! We got to interview the workers of Minneapolis Central Library and the instructors were fun, too! The class is small and we sat in a room inside the library. It has good atmosphere and I got to meet another workshop participants from high schools around Twin Cities.

It was inspiring and I wish I will do good in the workshop. The best thing about it? It was such a cool cool cool library.

See ya!

Night at Minneapolis

Because I am a US Department of States-funded exchange student, I have to do at least 40 hours of community service during my stay here. For now, I don't really do much of community service, only twice. But I will.

By the way.

Yesterday I did my second community service in Minneapolis. I cooked and served food for homeless people in a shelter with Winnie, an exchange student from Taiwan. So after school Winnie, Amanda (Winnie's host mother) and Edward (Winnie's host brother) picked me up at my home and we headed together to Minneapolis. We got there early and just straight to cut potatoes. Then everyone else came and we began to cook together. There was Riley and Geneva, girls who go to Burnsville High School, Peyton, an 8th grader who lives in Bloomington, and another middle school student from Eagan but I forgot her name-_- and another older people. That was a youth group from Amanda's church that doing community service regularly.

We began serving the people at 7. I served brownies with Riley and Geneva. I looked at how people there. They were clean and full of life. Well... Not all of them, but at least the group who sat in front of me. They wore clean clothes and friendly and laughing over the table talking about how the food we cooked were the best food they've ever eaten in the shelter. Despite the fact that later Amanda said that the potatoes were undercooked. Well again, not all of them. Some of them were scary and not friendly, indeed. But I was amazed at how they... Act and present themselves. They don't look like homeless people. Moreover in Indonesia, they don't look like homeless people whatsoever. And how they look content.

When we were cleaning the dining room, there was one of them still there, chatting with Peyton about how they didnt like cooked onion. And when we were waiting for Peyton to call her dad, some of them headed to the bathroom and I got a peek of how the bathroom looks like. Very clean and neat and taken care of. It wouldn't happen in Indonesia.

After we said goodbye, we walked 4 blocks for a Chinese restaurant. It was a pretty walked, pretty sidewalks. Literally like the one in the movies. The dinner was crazy. There were 4 languages in our table. Chinese, Indonesian, Spanish and English. The waitress were Spanish and the owner of the reastaurant was Chinese. So Winnie talked with the owner with Chinese language and Peyton, who took Spanish class in her school, try to speak Spanish with the waitress. Plus Edward... He was truly truly loco (crazy). He wanted to know what's I love you in Spanish and Chinese and then I taught them in Indonesian. He wanted to know what's 'will you marry me' in Spanish from the waitress and it was sooooo funny, how he was joking and fooling around. And how Peyton tried to show off about her Spanish hahahhahahaha.

When we got out of the restaurant, it was sprinkling so we were running for 4 blocks. And I wore my flat shoes. Gosh, as romantic as it is, I don't like running on my flat shoes on the wet ground for 4 blocks -.-

Then we dropped Peyton to Bloomington in front of Green Mill and it turned out that in front of the Green Mill is Donaldson, dad's office! 'Such a coincidence of all places!', said Amanda hahaha. After that we just went straight to Lakeville around 10 pm.

It was such a night at Minneapolis!
